Friends
So yesterday I hung out with Adam, Steph and the rest of the unruly mob.. it was fun, but made me notice something even more that I've kinda been noticing. I have no close friends anymore. I've got friends sure, even some I can be emotionally open with... and even some I see alot... but none that I can be emotionally open with AND I see alot. Heh. I've drifted WAY far away from Luke plus he's stranded in Clintonville more than ever before, I haven't seen Ashley lately, hardly ever talk to Tom and Eric, and Jen I didn't talk to much since she got insanely busy and that never picked back up when her life mellowed out again. So mostly its just groups of people I hang out with now. Adam and his friends, Christina and her friends, Kira and her friends.

Fun and all, but not enough.. I gotta be more social and meet/pick more people I can hang out with individually so I really get to know them too. Heh.

Not so much upset about this as just thinking I gotta do something, btw, so don't need big outpourings of sympathy.

Which of the following best describes your marital status?

Married
Single, never married
Divorced/widowed/separated
Civil union/domestic partnership
Not sure

NOT SURE? Ummm, I can't remember? Have I ever been married? Y'know, I think I gotta get back to you on that. Sorry, don't know.

Dropped two classes
I'm stressed and my sleep has been so weird, I decided it was better to drop everything but the Java programming. I still might stop by campus before it, but I don't have to be there until 5:30 now. Haha. I can be lazy!

I wanna marry a Fillipino guy and go live in Australia.

Also:
I dislike money. Its not a matter of poverty, communism, or anarchy. Just, barter has so much more personality, and a more human touch. There's something inhuman and impersonal about such an abstract means of exchange.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco called the looters "hoodlums" and issued a warning to lawbreakers: Hundreds of National Guardsmen hardened on the battlefield in Iraq have landed in New Orleans.
"They have M-16s and they're locked and loaded," she said. "These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will."

My mind map
My LJ Mind Map is born.. and has me absoultely SURROUNDED by homeschool kids. O_o. Scary, huh? I never really realized that they're the largest cluster of friends that are connected to each other, so I suppose its natural.. wheras my closest friends tend to be people who aren't connected to my other friends, and so end up on the outskirts.

Facials and abuse!

So [info]corrvin or bah... the LJ name is actually [info]nhinx  isn't it?  Anyway, whichever it was... she did a post of her playing with an aging/gender swapping program for faces... immediately I saw potential for abuse... so here is me in various freakish mutations.

Saw Luke for effectively the first time in 7 months. It was a goodness, despite him being sick. Much cuddling, teasing, picking on each other and Ashley. Got to see Ashley in her drag king mode too! Whee! Got to watch her apply the hair with spirit gum. Hehe. Didn't get to watch her bind her breasts down though. Oh well.

My first piercing
I've always felt like with things like piercing, if you don't have the will to do it yourself, at least once, you shouldn't bother in the first place. Now, I haven't been pierced before, although I tried to in high school with a safety pin. That time, I poked the pin through the flesh so the point was peeking through, but couldn't get that last little bit to finish it, it just wouldn't go through the skin. Since then, I haven't been interested enough to try again.

So, back to present day, about two days ago, around 1 AM, I decide to finish what I'd left unfinished back then and repeat the procedure, with the simple diffrence that this time I held a cork in back to push through into. With the cork, it was fairly easy, low pain, and pretty much blood free. But a friend who knew piercings suggested it was maybe too close to the edge, and I should redo it better centered. Once again, no big deal. So here I am with a safety pin in my ear, and so far so good:

Now, I decide I should switch to a smaller pin as placeholder till I get proper jewelery, since that one is sort of bulky. This.. is a bit of a mistake, as I don't manage to slide the new pin in as I'm sliding the old one out. I find I can't slide the old one back in either, and trying to find the other end of the hole hurts, more than the original piercing did. So finally, its the cork again, making a third hole that shares an entrance with the second one, but has a slightly diffrent exit.

At this point I decide I'm going to let a jewelery/tatoo place do the switch from safety pin to ring, I've already proved I can do this three times in a row and don't really feel like going for four needlessly and giving myself a good shot at infection. The switch to the ring was the only part that really hurt or bled, but the pain wasn't anything excrutiating. They had a hard time switching the jewelery, so I'm glad I let them do it I'm sure it would have been harder for me.

Overall I'm happy with the outcome of doing this myself, even if something goes wrong later. It made it something more involved than just walk in, poke, pop in the ring, all done. Also it saved $5 (woulda been $15 instead of the $10 for the ring)... no big deal, but hey. And I got a bigger gauge than the place I went to normally starts with. They prefer to start very small (I don't know the gauges, 20?), I got a 16 as I recall. Still not that big, but I like how it looks, and the others just looked tiny.

Anyway, here's the piercing with the ring in place.

A brief history of the last 5 years

So, using the lastest post feature, [info]skurkey discovered my last LJ post, and in the ensuing conversation, asked how I started LJing.  Since some of you may not have known me for 5 years ;-) here's a repost of that outside the comment tree that resulted, since it turned into a mini-history.

I started with the LJ with the intent never to post, thats how ;-).

I have severe social anxiety problems which used to be much much worse.  Basically, it used to be any form of communication or socialization was tough.  Around 2000 (I was born in 1980, so when I was 20, basically), got AOL free for a year with my new computer, and started visiting chats.  At first this scared the hell out of me, but I got more comfortable as time went on, became a regular in a chat called Jesus Sucks, and so forth (yeah, I know, immature name for it but the point was to provoke fundamentalists attention and watch for their amusing responses ("YOU WILL FACE THE RAFT OF GOD!" and "So you belive in the big band theory?" are still some of my favorites).  Started moving from chats to IMing more with some people, and then even calling them... so I was expanding my social sphere alot.

After drama collapsed this chat, and a few others I moved onto, reading LJ posts became the easiest way to keep up with various people's lives.  Then, they started going largely friend's only.  So I figured I'd just get an LJ so I could keep up.

And then, I just gradually got into it.  I still don't post daily, or even neccesarily weekly, but I keep up with my friends page now, and probably comment more often than I post.

As far as the anxiety goes... I've been going to college, making friends in real life, travelling... its alot better, even though last fall I had some setbacks and failed my college courses because I just couldn't keep going.  My social life sort of collapsed too, but its rebuilding quite nicely right now.

So yeah, thats the LJ plus ultra minimal summary of the last five years of my life. I should repost too, for my newer friends on the list.

Footnote:  Why I don't have any interests listed....
I've tried two versions of interest pages I'd like to have.  LJ rejected both.

Version 1: fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, ice, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, cheese, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire.

Version 2: vanilla and cockroach flavored sporks
soylent mountain oysters, defective yet doting messiahs, prarie squid, priapic mongoose larvae, implementors of draconian measures, Maslow's hierarchy of beads, rabid gothtaku moogles, bloodstained french fries, the neo-Marxist military-industrial infotainment complex

Your brain: 100% interpersonal, 100% visual, 60% verbal, and 140% mathematical!
Congratulations on being 400% smart! Actually, on my test, everyone is. The above score breaks down what kind of thinking you most enjoy doing. A score above 100% means you use that kind of thinking more than average, and a score below 100% means you use it less. It says nothing about how good you are at any one, just how interested you are in each, relatively. A substantial difference in scores between two people means, conclusively, that they are different kinds of thinkers.

Matching Summary: Each of us has different tastes. Still, I offer the following advice, which I think is obvious:

  1. Don't date someone if your interpersonal percentages differ by more than 80%.
  2. Don't be friends with someone if your verbal percentages differ by more than 100%.
  3. Don't have sex with someone if their math percentage is over 200%.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 75% on interpersonal

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 60% on visual

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 54% on verbal

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 72% on mathematical

Trippage, sortage.
I'll be in (southern) New Jersey visiting a friend from June 1 to June 10. So anyone in that area that wants to meet, MIGHT be able to or something. And anyone else, thats why I vanished ;-).

Going through all my old CDs to decide which are worth keeping. May post a list of the discards when I'm done (prolly after the list)... so heh... friends can fight over them.. or mock me for having owned them in the first place... or both.
